Some teams only want the data. If you have modelers in house, we deliver the registered cloud in the format your pipeline consumes — E57 for interchange, LAS/LAZ for survey and GIS workflows, RCS/RCP for Autodesk, plus structured or unstructured exports as required.

Every point cloud ships with a registration report: cloud-to-cloud and target residuals, the control used, coordinate system, scanner settings, and coverage notes. That report is how your team judges whether the data supports the tolerance they need.

Large sites get tiled and indexed so the data opens on normal workstations. We can also stand up a browser viewer so stakeholders who do not run CAD can still walk the space and take rough measurements.

Where the raw data goes

Some clients want the measurement and nothing else, because their own modelers take it from there. The handoff is the same registered dataset we would have modelled from.

New York coverage includes E57 and RCP handoff in Poughkeepsie, point cloud registration in Clay, raw scan data for in-house teams in Niagara Falls, and registered point cloud delivery in Tonawanda. On the New Jersey side it takes in point cloud registration in Bayonne, raw scan data for in-house teams in Newark, registered point cloud delivery in Toms River, and E57 and RCP handoff in Woodbridge. The Connecticut side of the service area adds raw scan data for in-house teams in New London and registered point cloud delivery in West Haven.

What exactly is a point cloud?

A point cloud is the raw measured output of a 3D scan — millions of individual points, each with an X, Y, Z position, captured by a laser scanner and registered into one coordinate system. It is the ground truth that every other deliverable — CAD drawings, a BIM model, an orthomosaic — gets derived from.

What formats do you deliver point clouds in?

Registered point clouds ship in E57, LAS/LAZ, or RCS/RCP, whichever your downstream software reads without a conversion step. E57 is the safest default when the destination software is uncertain, since it is the open interchange standard most CAD and BIM packages support.

How big are the files, and how do we receive them?

Large industrial or building-scale projects commonly run to tens or hundreds of gigabytes, so delivery is usually via a download link or physical drive rather than email. We scope storage and transfer method against the project size before capture, so there are no surprises at handoff.

What software do I need to open a point cloud?

Autodesk ReCap opens RCS/RCP files, and CloudCompare is a capable free option for E57 and LAS/LAZ. Most CAD and BIM software — AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D — can link or import a registered cloud directly, so in many cases your team's existing software is already enough.

What's in the registration and QA report that comes with the cloud?

It documents cloud-to-cloud and target residuals, overall RMSE, the control network and coordinate system used, scanner settings, and a coverage note listing anything that was occluded during capture. That report is what lets your engineer judge whether the 3D scan actually supports the tolerance their decision needs, rather than taking accuracy on faith.
