- Detroit
Michigan 3D scanning built around the automotive supply chain — stamping and assembly plants, supplier engineering centers, and the downtown Detroit buildings being brought back into use around them.
Automotive plant work is the core. Stamping and assembly buildings carry crane rails, deep equipment foundations, pits, and overhead services that have been rebuilt in layers since the 1950s, and a line move or new tooling install needs the real clearances rather than the original layout. Capture happens around production or inside a planned shutdown, with plant safety training and escorts built into the schedule rather than treated as a surprise.
Dearborn and the Troy–Auburn Hills corridor add supplier tech centers and engineering campuses: test labs, prototype shops, and office space where tenant changes outpace the record drawings. This is also where reverse engineering work comes up — fixtures, tooling and legacy components that need a measured model because no drawing survives.
Downtown and Midtown Detroit are a restoration market. Early 20th-century towers and warehouses are being documented before conversion, and the ornament and masonry detail on those buildings is exactly the kind of geometry that has to be captured at density rather than idealised into straight lines. Winter constrains roof and exterior work for a good part of the year.
