goes a long way.
We do not need a perfect brief. A building type, rough area, deadline, and what you need to decide next is enough to start.

How we scope your 3D laser scanning or BIM project
A reliable reality capture proposal depends on matching sensor accuracy, site access windows, and modeling depth to the engineering decision in front of your team. When you reach out to scope a facility in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut, we review four practical parameters so you never pay for unnecessary modeling or over-specified density:
- Facility geometry and congestion: Approximate square footage, ceiling or truss clear heights, number of levels, and the density of overhead mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or process piping systems determine whether tripod terrestrial LiDAR (2 to 3 mm station accuracy), wearable mobile SLAM (10 to 25 mm accuracy), FAA Part 107 drone photogrammetry (1 to 3 cm horizontal accuracy), or a hybrid control network is the right fit.
- Deliverable formats and software versions: Tell us whether your team needs registered point clouds only (ASTM E57, Autodesk ReCap .rcp/.rcs, LAS/LAZ), 2D AutoCAD drawings (.dwg/.dxf floor plans, sections, reflected ceiling plans, elevations), or 3D Scan-to-BIM models in native Autodesk Revit (.rvt, versions 2021 through 2025), openBIM IFC2x3/IFC4, or Navisworks (.nwc/.nwd) at LOD 200, LOD 300, or LOD 350.
- Access, safety, and operating windows: We routinely capture active manufacturing lines, GMP pharmaceutical suites, data halls, hospitals, and schools without shutting down operations. Let us know if the site requires night or weekend shifts, escorted access, cleanroom gowning, or site-specific EHS orientation and COI endorsements.
- Coordinate datum and QA requirements: We can register to your plant column grid, architectural project base point, or georeferenced NAD83 NY/NJ/CT state plane monuments, and every project includes a written registration and QA report documenting station count, RMS residuals, and coverage.
If you already have a floor plan, site aerial, RFP specification, or BIM execution plan, mention it in your message or email it directly to info@3dscancraft.com. Reviewing existing reference drawings—even outdated ones—lets our engineers confirm station density, control monument placement, and modeling boundaries on the first call.
