3D laser scanning.

Washington DC 3D scanning across a building stock defined by federal and institutional ownership, strict height limits, and heavily protected historic fabric.

Working in Washington, D.C.

Federal and institutional work sets the rules. Access means badging and escorts, data handling is specified in the contract rather than assumed, and deliverable standards are written into the solicitation. Existing-conditions documentation for capital projects is the recurring request, delivered in a form a procurement review can actually verify.

Downtown DC is an unusually active office conversion market. The height limit means floor plates are wide and shallow, which makes residential conversion geometry genuinely difficult — core positions, light wells, floor-to-floor heights and slab edges decide whether a scheme works at all, and original drawings rarely answer those questions.

Capitol Hill, NoMa and Navy Yard add historic fabric, newer mixed-use construction and institutional campuses. Flight work is effectively off the table across most of the District because of the Special Flight Rules Area, so exterior and roof capture that would be flown anywhere else is done terrestrially here.
