3D scanning in
The Loop (Chicago), IL.
The Loop is Chicago's dense downtown core, where early skyscrapers, terra-cotta commercial blocks, and municipal landmarks sit inside the elevated rail ring and a maze of underground connections.
3D laser scanning in The Loop (Chicago), IL
Scan work here is mostly historic and government buildings: renovation measurement of Chicago School facades, as-built capture of City Hall and county-era civic interiors, and mechanical floors in high-rises being repositioned for office-to-residential conversion. Crews work around LaSalle Street's loading-dock limits, Lower Wacker truck traffic, and tight freight-elevator windows, so most interior capture runs nights and weekends. Pedway and basement levels add GPS-denied scanning that has to tie back to street-level control.
Deliverables get chosen against the decision rather than against a price list: registered data for in-house teams where a design team takes it from there, a CAD as-built set where the output has to be drawn, and scan-to-BIM at LOD 200–300 where several disciplines share the same congested space. Aerial mapping is added when the outside of the building matters as much as the inside.
The Loop (Chicago) sits inside our Illinois service area, so mobilization is short and a return visit for a phase-two capture does not mean rebuilding the whole job. Most work here is scheduled within days rather than weeks, including nights and weekends for occupied buildings.
